Welwyn Village ยท Hertfordshire ยท Est. in Monty's memory
We look after your dog the way we'd want someone to look after ours. Local, insured, experienced -- and genuinely passionate about every animal in our care.
What we do
From a quick pop in while you're at work to a full overnight stay -- we cover everything, with the same care every time.
One-to-one walks tailored to your dog's pace, needs and personality. No rushing, no crowds. Just your dog and one of our team.
Carefully matched groups for sociable dogs. We never take more than we can give proper attention to.
A visit to feed, fuss and check on your pet while you're out. Available for dogs, cats and small animals.
We stay at your home overnight, so someone is there all night. No kennels, no stress.
Bespoke pet portraits by Francesca -- capturing your furbabies in studio, on location, or in your own home. A creative spin-off from the Monty's family.
Why Monty's
Monty's Dog Walking Service grew from something personal. Monty was our dog -- patient, funny, and particular about who he trusted. We named this business in his memory, and the standard we hold ourselves to is simple: we care for your pet the way we cared for him.
We're a family team based in Welwyn Village. Lillie and Francesca have grown up around animals and between them cover solo walks, group walks, pop ins and overnights. Every client is local, every booking is handled personally.
Every walk we do is in memory of the dog who started this. Monty taught us what it looks like when an animal truly trusts you -- and that's the bar we hold every single visit to.

Our services
All services are provided by insured, trained and DBS-checked members of our family team. Prices on request -- every dog and situation is different, so we prefer to have a proper conversation first.
Your dog, one of us, and a proper walk. No rushing to keep up with a group, no distractions that aren't right for your dog's temperament. We'll walk the same regular routes so your dog knows where they are, or explore new ones if that's what they enjoy.
Ideal for nervous or reactive dogs, or older dogs with mobility issues -- we go at their pace, not ours.
Small, carefully matched groups for dogs who love company. We keep numbers low so every dog gets proper attention and we can manage group dynamics well. Dogs are matched on size, temperament and energy -- we won't put a reactive dog in a group walk.
A visit to your home to feed, check on and spend time with your pet while you're out. Available for dogs, cats and small animals -- we'll flag anything that needs attention.
Day sits are longer stays -- we come to your home and spend the day so your pet is never alone for long. Good for pets who don't travel well or are more comfortable in their own environment.
We stay at your home overnight, so someone is there through the night. No kennels, no crates unless that's your pet's preference, and no leaving them alone in an unfamiliar place.
We'll keep to your pet's usual routine -- same feeding times, same walks, same sleeping arrangements. We want your pet barely to notice you're gone.
Bespoke pet portraits by Francesca -- a hand-crafted keepsake of your favourite companion. Sessions available in studio, on location, or in your own home.

About us
We started Monty's as a family -- and it's still a family business. Every booking goes through one of us personally, and every animal in our care gets our full attention.
Our story
Monty was our dog. He was patient and funny and completely himself -- and he was particular about who he trusted, in the way only a really good dog is. We named this business in his memory, and the standard we hold every visit to is the standard we held ourselves to with him.
We're based in Welwyn Village and we cover the surrounding area. Lillie and Francesca make up the walking and sitting team. Between us we've been around dogs and cats our whole lives.
We don't take on more clients than we can look after properly. We'd rather be the best option for a few families than a mediocre option for many. If we're at capacity, we'll tell you honestly and help you find someone else we trust.
Meet the sisters
Every member of the team is insured, DBS checked and canine first aid trained. Your pet will get to know the same faces.
Reviews
We're proud of the bonds we build with local dogs and their owners. Here are a few favourites -- and you can read every review on Google for yourself.
A few favourites
"We would highly recommend Lillie and Francesca to anyone looking for support with dog walking, training and dog sitting! Lillie has provided training for us since our dog Cleo was a 10 week old puppy and has seen us through the ups and downs of supporting a puppy in navigating a human world successfully! We have really valued her knowledge, advice and support and it has given us so much confidence. Cleo races to the door when she hears the Monty's van collecting her for her group dog walks twice a week -- she absolutely adores Lillie and Francesca and all the other dogs she gets to play with. Professional, communicative and flexible and a joy to work with."
"The girls are lovely, warm, kind and my two dogs loved them. They always took them to exciting places and took brilliant photos. I would highly recommend them. If I didn't move away, I would use them every day. Very reasonable prices too. Thank you for looking after my boys."
"Lovely people, my dog Ponyo warmed to them instantly and I completely trusted them with her care. When Ponyo tragically died unexpectedly, they were so kind and compassionate. It's so obvious how much they love dogs. Would definitely recommend x"
"The dog walking service has been great and very reliable. We have regular dog walks that keep our dog really happy. The house sitting service has allowed us to go on holiday knowing Ruby is in safe hands. Lillie has been great helping Ruby become less shy being away from her owners."

Trusted by Monty's
Honest recommendations -- vets, food, secure fields, grooming and the kit we actually use. No paid placements. Just things we trust and stand behind.
Healthcare
Finding a vet you can trust is one of the most important things you'll do as a dog owner. We've personally used all three of these practices and had good experiences with each.
Food & treats
Finding the right food can be overwhelming -- there's so much out there. These are what we use ourselves and what we see working brilliantly for our clients' dogs every day.
Off-lead freedom
Secure dog walking fields are brilliant -- for group walks, reactive dogs, puppies building confidence, or just letting your dog be fully free. We use them all the time.
Grooming
Dog grooming done right -- there's only one local business we always rely on, and Jodie and her team never disappoint.
What's in ours
Products we use every single day with your dogs. Not sponsorships, not affiliates -- just the things that actually work. All available on Amazon or with a quick Google search.

Frequently asked questions
Can't find what you're looking for? Drop us a message and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.
Regular weekly clients: during our meet and greet you'll let us know which days you'd like, and we put them in as recurring in our diary.
Ad hoc clients: we have a WhatsApp group chat where you can pop your requests in as and when you need them. We're flexible -- ideally you'll send a month's worth in advance, but if you're self-employed or a shift worker we can take weekly requests too.
We invoice you every Friday for same-day payment via bank transfer. Cash payments are also welcome.
We have a secure client key safe where all keys are stored safely. If you have your own key safe box at home we're happy to use that instead -- just let us know the code at your meet and greet.
In public spaces we walk a maximum of 6 dogs per walk. In a secure field the maximum is 10. Dogs are always matched on temperament and play styles -- we never just bundle dogs together.
Our pet information sheet (which we ask you to fill in after the meet and greet) includes a section where you can give permission for off-lead walking. We're happy to walk lead-only dogs too.
Even if your dog is normally off lead with you, we'll use a long line until we've built our own connection with them and feel fully confident -- that's about what's right for your dog, not about ticking a box.
We both have dog walking vans with individual crates in the back and side, so every dog travels safely and separately to and from our walking destinations.
First, we call you -- or the alternative emergency contact you supply on your forms -- to explain the situation and go from there.
If we can't reach anyone, we'll use our own judgement and take your dog to the closest vet. This is why the vet release form we ask you to complete after the meet and greet is so important -- it means we can hand over everything the vet needs immediately, without any delay in treatment.
We both come over to your home to meet you and your dog. We get a feel for how your pet is with us, find out all about them as individuals, and you can show us where everything is that we might need when they're in our care. No commitment, no pressure -- just a proper introduction.
We ask you to provide your dog's own lead and collar or harness (whichever you normally use). We supply our own poo bags and treats -- unless you'd prefer us not to, just let us know. We also use our own long lines when building trust with off-lead dogs.
We don't offer exact times, but we run three walks per day -- morning, lunch, and afternoon. If it's useful, we can let you know your dog's expected pick-up and drop-off time the day before their scheduled walk.
We like to mix it up -- variation is good for us and the dogs. Our pick-up routes on the day help determine the walk spot, but some of our regular favourites are:
Open walks: Sherrards Wood, Mardley Woods, Codicote Fields, Moneyhole Fields.
Secure fields: we use Grow Walkies, predominantly the Tewin, Hertford and Gravely fields.
